Wingspan of 9-12 mm. Forewings pale brownishgrey with short creamy white bars along the entire length of costa. Cilia shining dark grey. Hindwing grey-brown with a concolorous basal ciliary line and outer cilia creamy white. Labial palps pale greybrown, whiter above. Thorax & tegulae pale brownish-grey.
Laid on the upper leaves of host plant.

Lucerne and Alfalfa
Feed on flowers and seeds of their host without causing discolouration. Evidence of infestation is indicated by irregular holes in glumes, often edged with frass.
