Description
Adult
Body length 2.9-4 mm in males and 3.8-5.3 mm in females. Body predominantly dark brown to black. Wings with 4 transverse dark stripes. Tarsi, tibiae, scutellum and anterior part of head all yellow. Two lateral yellow stripes are present on the thorax.
Larvae
White to yellowish with pharyngeal hooks at the front end and spiracles that resemble projecting tubes at the posterior end.
Eggs
Yellowish-white, oval and pointed at one end. Laid singly beneath the skin of developing fruit

Europe, the Middle East and western Asia.

Symptoms/Signs
Oviposition punctures disfigure the outer surfaces of fruit and are often visible due to discolouration. Larvae feed on the fruit pulp and then leave the fruit to pupate in the ground
