Description

Adult

Wing span of 15-16 mm. Forewings grey-brown with white triangle in middle of posterior edge. Hind wings are uniformly grey. 36-40 antennomeres.

Larvae

Up to 10 mm long. Cephalic capsule is brown and the body is yellowish-white.

Eggs

White and elliptical, laid singly on the surface of leaves..

Distribution

Europe, North America and northern parts of Asia.

Economic Host(s)

All members of the Allium family.

Symptoms/Signs

Young larvae feed within galleries in leaves, while later instars feed on the inner yellow leaves. Galleries and longitudinal grooves are signs of infestation in leek while windows in leaves are signs in onion.
