Description
Adult
Wingspan of 18-25 mm. Forewings with a creamish yellow ground colour with reddish brown markings, and metallic streaks or spots. A small pale-yellow blotch is usually present halfway down the wing.
Larvae
Body is green with the pinacula and anal plate yellowish-green. Head chestnut brown and prothoracic plate brown to yellowish-green. Anal comb present with 8-10 large prongs.
Eggs
Laid in yellowish-brown batches on leaves of their host.
Distribution
Europe, Asia and North America.
Economic Host(s)
Raspberry (Rubus), a range of trees including hazel (Corylus), ash (Fraxinus), birch (Betula) and oak (Quercus)
Symptoms/Signs
Early instars feed at the tip of leaves and later instars spin leaves together and feed within a silken tubular opening.
