Description
Adult
Forewing length of 6-6.5 mm. Forewing brownish suffused orange, pinkish or reddish-brown. A few obscure costal streaks and dorsal blotch are present. Ocellus contains 3-4 black dashes. The thorax is orange-brown.
Larvae
Late instar larvae reach ca. 12 mm long. Body whitish-yellow tinged with pink dorsally. Head reddish to yellowish-brown and prothoracic plate brown, translucent anteriorly. Anal plate dark reddish-brown.
Eggs
Translucent. Laid singly on fruit.
Distribution
Europe except Scandinavia.

Symptoms/Signs
Larvae bore into the fruit to feed on the pulp. Entrance holes sometimes exude a sticky sap and infested fruit may drop early. Often a exit hole containing frass is visible.
